Masseria Torre Maizza 5 stars luxury
Masseria Torre Maizza Savelletri di Fasano
A gleaming white fortified farm, centred around a tower, surrounded by an estate, overlooking the sea - this is Masseria Torre Maizza, Puglia. Within the walls built to provide protection from Saracen invasions and once a refuge for monks, guests now find sophisticated contemporary, yet still rural interiors, redolent of the past. Masseria Torre Maizza's peaceful rooms and suites, set away from the main areas, have every modern accoutrement - WI-FI internet connectivity, DVD libraries.
Torre Maizza's restaurant's cuisine is as cutting edge as its décor. Here a white, cream and chrome minimalist theme is set, with a lovely, scented, vista of orange groves. The varied produce of the estate, local meat, vegetables and fruit, fresh caught fish, wild mushrooms, herbs, asparagus and berries are used by the best young chefs in Italy in exciting interpretations of traditional Italian and Puglian specialities. A splendid wine list does justice to the chef's creations. Inspired by this culinary experience, guests can join the hotel's popular cooking course, exploring local markets and making typical Puglian dishes.
More gastronomic delights await beside the sea, at the hotel's beach which has a fantastic fish restaurant, oyster and sushi bar. Beside the clear sea, guests also find on this stretch of serene white sand, white tents, white gazebos, white loungers, treatment pavilions and more.
For those who just want to unwind, other than on the beach, there are king size sunbeds by the lovely pool, with its 16th century colonnade, or on the lantern lit terrace. In the peaceful grounds of the estate, amongst ancient olive trees and vines there are places to sit, hammocks and loungers. For the active there is the pool and riding stables. Golf can be played at the adjacent Coccaro Golf Club.
For keeping fit and for ultimate pampering there is the slick Masseria Torre Maizza Aveda Spa which has been created in the old tower. Guests can indulge in a vast choice of massages, use the gym, indoor pool, whirlpool and Turkish baths and enjoy treatments many of which use herbs and fruit from the estate. All this with a view of olive trees and the sea. Another building which has been transformed is the old oil press which has become a function room where conferences, seminars and meetings can be held.
