Bovino is situated on the hills of the Appenine Dauno. The town is an integral part of the Mountian Comunità Monti Dauni and the club Italy's Most Beautiful Villages.
Looking out over the Cervaro river in the territory of the Tavoliere delle Puglie, Bovino is an exceptionally peaceful town. The Ducale castle, Bovino Cathedral, the Church of St Pietro and the Civic Museum "Carlo Gaetano Nicastro" are all to be found in the historic center. Many traditional customs and celebrations are held in the town including the pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Valleverde and the Fair and Procession of St Celestino Martire.
