Costernino is sited in the Murge territory, bordering on the province of Taranto. The town has an urban landscape typical of Medieval times. The architecture is predominantly white and includes buildings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries.
There are important monuments such as the Church of St Nicola di Bari, the Tower of Palazzo Amati, the Church of St Cataldo nel Borgo, the Sanctuary of St Maria d'Ibernia and the Church of St Quirico. Events held in the town include the festivities for the Patron Saints St Quirico and St Giulittà, the Fair of the Bomminella and the Celebrations for the Madonna d'Irbernia.
