Otranto Puglia-Apulia

A land much contested over the centuries, flourishing city with an economy linked to the land and the sea.

Otranto has for years been synonymous with the region of Salento. The region is known as "Terra d'Otranto" because of the town's cultural and commercial importance. Otranto is positioned between the Adriatic Sea and the Idro Valley.

The city is made up of an old town, with fortifications looking out over the natural port, and the modern part of the city, situated between Mount Carlo Magno and the Minerva Hill. To see: the Cathedral, the Aragon castle, the Borgo Antico, the Byzantine Church of St Pietro, the Church of St Maria dei Martiri, the Alimini Lakes, the Badisco Port and the Grotta del Cervo.
