Taranto Puglia-Apulia
Looking out over the Ionic sea, an important port, with a turning bridge, a city with a mixture of old and new.
Taranto is sited on the shores of the Ionic Sea, between the Mar Grande and Mar Piccolo. The city is divided into the old and new town, which are separated by the immense Turning Bridge. From the hill tops the views extend from the Calabrian Mountains to the Cherardi islands. The sea is magnificently clean.
To see: Palazzo del Governo, the Museum of Taranto underground, the National Archeological Museum, and the Natural History Museum. Events held in the city include the Easter Monday Tango a Taranto, the Taranto Palio and the Taranto Market.
